After a quick Google of the phrase “stuffed fabric letters” left me wanting last night, my mind started to roam. I had a vision in my head of what I wanted, and it didn’t seem like it would be TOO hard to execute  So this afternoon, I dug through my fabric scraps, cut out some cardboard patterns, and went to work. I decided on the letter M for the simplicity in the straight lines, but i also wanted the challenge of the little “v” in the middle.

Be sure to iron your fabric if necessary!

I used five different cardboard templates to trace the shapes needed for my final 3D letter. One of the shapes is not shown. I ran out of this fabric and used black for the top and bottom squares of the M.

I pinned and stitched all the outside pieces into one piece. Still not tootallyyyy sure that this was beneficial. I ended up ripping the seams out between the smallest pieces, what made up the middle “v” of the M, and replacing it after attaching the small pieces to the front and back.

Attach the front and back, piece everything together.

Don’t forget to leave an open space for stuffing!! Fill with your choice of material. I used some Build-a-Bear stuffing I’d saved from a poor bear who met an early demise, thanks to one of my dogs x__X

And this. This is the face you get when you interupt a drink of water with incessant meowing and clicking noises to get a pose from your cranky feline. That’s his waterglass, mind you. But there you are! If I attempt another in the future, I’d probably do a little more research and planning to get the seams juuust right in those tight little spots, but overall I am very pleased with my little M, and it could always double as a cute neck pillow 🙂
